Baroque Spanish Birthing Chair from the 1920’s
Hand carved Spanish Elm birthing stool with a trefoil motif adorning all 3 chair handles. The trefoil is a frequently occurring emblem in the architectural design of many gothic and baroque Cathedrals during this period. The stool is finished with a dark wood stain and has a thumbprint texture carved throughout, providing something extra for the eye to gravitate towards. The stool is in great vintage condition and is structurally sound.
