Pair of Fledermaus Chairs by Josef Hoffmann for Thonet
A rare pair of bent beech chairs designed in 1907 by illustrious Viennese architect Josef Hoffmann for the Fledermaus cabaret in Vienna. This design, a bold and radical departure from the gilded tradition of European nightclubs at the time, instantly gained popularity. Today, pieces from the Fledermaus collection are among Hoffmann’s most iconic designs.
The seats have been newly reupholstered in Ochre colored Rose Uniacke Mohair by Past Lives Studio. In great condition with patina and a few small scattered chips to paint due to age, new upholstery in perfect condition.
