Silver "Glitterwerk" Flowerbasket by Josef Hoffmann for Wiener Werkstätte
Extremely rare silver plated flower basket from the Vienna Secession movement designed by Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956), circa 1906. Produced in Austria by the Wiener Werkstatte (Vienna Workshop) from 1906-1916 as part of the "Glitterwerk" collection. It is one of Hoffmann's most sought after pieces and can be seen in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the MAK in Vienna.
Perforated square lattice with looped reticulated handle. Branded on underside with Wiener Werstatte shop mark, "A" Vienna silver marking, a Wiener Werkstatte 'rose' mark, and Josef Hoffman's "JH" designer marking.
